What Is a SandFest?

ISCS SandFest is a gathering of people who enjoy collecting, studying, photographing, sharing, and trading sand. It is a chance for members of the International Sand Collectors Society, sand collectors, educators, scientists, and anyone curious about sand to come together for several days of presentations, workshops, field trips, sand trading, and friendship.

Each SandFest is shaped by its host location, with opportunities to learn about local sands, geology, landscapes, and culture. Whether you are an experienced collector or simply interested in the beauty and science of sand, SandFest is a welcoming place to learn, explore, and connect with others who share your interest.

Reasons to Attend a SandFest

  • Learn from presentations and workshops about sand, geology, collecting, photography, education, and related topics.

  • Take part in field trips and local collecting opportunities.

  • Trade sand with collectors from around the country and beyond.

  • See old friends, meet new sand friends, and connect with other ISCS members in person.

  • Explore a new region through the lens of sand, science, and natural history.

  • Share your own collecting experiences, favorite sands, displays, photos, or stories.

  • Enjoy several days devoted to the wonder, science, and fun of sand.
