The International Sand Collectors Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization whose mission is to educate ISCS members and the public about the origin, wonder, and science of sand.
Our vision is that people will see the world through the geology and biology of sand, and they will learn from those humble grains that there is science and wonder all around them.
Please take a moment to learn about the various committees who contribute to the International Sand Collectors Society!
We are always grateful to have members participating on our volunteer committees. If you are interested in joining a committee, please contact ISCS president, Lori Carter, and let her know how you would like to be involed.

The Donations Committee is responsible for accepting, handling, and distributing donated sand collections. It decides if the collection is appropriate for ISCS programs, helps the donor get the collection to one of our locations, and then processes the collection and sands for best uses by ISCS. Large samples (jars and bags) are removed from glass containers and broken down into collectable sizes. Samples are set aside for member distribution or educational programs. Lots are prepared and then offered and sent to members.
The Donations Committee is currently comprised of members Elise Lattuca, Leo Kenney, and Mike Guthrie.

The Science Committee of the International Sand Collectors Society was founded to gather information on the science of sand collecting to enhance the enjoyment of the hobby and to advance our understanding of the natural wonder around us. The main purpose of the Science Committee is to create how-to methodologies and best practices for sand collecting and maintain compilations of reference materials for the sand collector. These resources will enhance the study of sand and serve as guides for those new to the sand collecting hobby. They will also provide documentation of preparation and analytical techniques and identification manuals.
The Science Committee is currently comprised of members Julian Gray and Leo Kenney. If you are interested in contributing to this committee, please contact them at the link below.
