How to Donate a Sand Collection
Contact the ISCS Donations Committee to inquire about donating a sand collection. A representative of the Donations Committee will respond and discuss the suitability of your collection for ISCS. We recognize that all collections are unique to the collector.
To help us evaluate the collection, please provide photographs of the collection (as best you can). Suggested photos would be of the collection itself, some individual containers, and any associated materials.
We will consider the size and scope of the collection, its location and how the collection can get to one of the ISCS's designated members or sites within the US. Donors may choose to ship at their expense. ISCS does not have a budget to pay for shipping collections although we will work with you to successfully transfer the collection.
You, as the donor, must acknowledge your ownership of the collection and agree that the ISCS has complete control of its use once donated.
Note: All sands must be labeled with a geographic location. We do not accept unlabeled samples.
For each donated collection, the ISCS will photograph some samples and create a legacy page on the ISCS website to recognize the collection and the collector. Please view previous donations as examples. Sand samples will then be offered to ISCS members for personal or educational use.
Information about obtaining donated sand can be found here: Request Sand
