2026 Presentations

Tuesday, January 13th, 7 PM Eastern, 4 PM Pacific, 11 PM GMT

Fred Haynes was the SandFest 2025 coordinator. In his presentation he reviewed the event through pictures taken by multiple participants. He also talked about the 5 field trip locations where sand was collected from Lake Ontario beaches and from drumlins, kames, and other glacial deposits. Then, he gave a brief review of the twelve weekend presentations. 2025 Presentations

Tuesday, June 17th, 7 PM Eastern, 4 PM Pacific, 11 PM GMT

Kate Clover took us on a brief fieldtrip to Iceland where she collected sands from the coast and from the interior highlands while on a geology fieldtrip. We also saw a little Iceland travelogue as a bonus. In addition, we learned about the results of analysis of some Galapagos sand as well as a little about the sand and geology of the Galapagos.  Click here for more information.

Dr. Arjen Luijendijk discussed his research about sandy beaches and rates of shoreline change. He described the practical implications of his work such as what we, as sand enthusiasts, can do to help preserve natural sandy places and what we can expect at beaches in the future. Click here for more information.
